Old fixed variety native to Springfield, Ohio, USA.
Bright green fruit marbled with dark green lines at maturity. Flattened and ribbed beefsteak type at the shoulders, the depression at the peduncle is deep and narrow. Clusters of 3 to 4 fruits of 150 to 400 grams.
Soft green beef flesh, which offers a nice contrast with the dark green gel. Excellent flavor. The fruit is ripe, just before it turns amber. The flesh then becomes mealy and the taste very musky which is often displeasing.
Tendency to crack.
