The original seed would come from Japan. Dark pink fruit of 200 to 300 grams.
Family heirloom variety of Brita Barlow, native of Shelbyville, Kentucky, USA. The original seed would have come from Japan the grandfather of Brita having received it of a friend who would have taken out seeds clandestinely at the end of the second world war. At the origin the plants were weak but the grandfather of Brita by dint of selection on the successive generations ended up obtaining healthier and more robust plants producing better fruits, so much so that thereafter it was the principal culture of the Barlow company.
Dark pink fruit of 200 to 300 grams, round and slightly flattened with discreet ribbing at the top. Deep depression at the peduncular attachment.
Juicy beefy flesh, small lodges containing few seeds.
Mild and sweet flavor, excellent for eating fresh or cooked or canned.
Variety with potato foliage, indeterminate growth.
