BLUE RIDGE BLACK
Cultivar native to the USA. Large purple fruit with very dark green shoulders, almost black.
A variety from an accidental cross between 'Blue Ridge Mountain' and a potato leaf variety that may be 'Southern Night'. This cross appeared in 2000 in Millard Murdock's garden in North Carolina. Featured in Seed Savers Yearbook in 2012, introduced commercially by TatianaTomatoBase in 2014.
Large purple fruit with very dark green almost black shoulders weighing 180 to 350 grams of round, flattened beefsteak type with more or less discrete ribbing at the top.
Juicy and fleshy purple beef flesh. Excellent rich and smoky flavor.
