To date, and since 2013, it is the hottest pepper in the world with a heat level equivalent to 2,200,000 SHU!
It comes from the cross, made by Ed Currie in South Carolina, of "Ghost pepper" (a former record holder) with a red Habanero named "Reaper" so called because of the shape of its apical end.
According to specialists it has a fruity taste of cinnamon and chocolate with a rather "sweet" initial bite turning very quickly to "molten lava"!...
Lantern-like fruit, wrinkled and grainy pod ending in a tapering point reminiscent of the sting of a scorpion or the sting of a wasp.
Ripens from green to bright red.
In our temperate regions it is advisable to sow it very early and cultivate it in a 30 to 40 cm pot in order to limit its growth, thus forcing it to produce fruits earlier so that they have time to ripen, indeed this cultivar has a very long reproductive cycle.
