Old family heirloom from France. One of the 100 varieties described in Carolyn Homme's book: "100 Heirlooms....".
Large red beefsteak-like fruit weighing 250 to 600 grams, or even more under good growing conditions. Round, slightly flattened with a more or less pronounced ribbing at the top, rippled shoulders which tend to curve when the fruit is very large. Deep and wide depression at the peduncular attachment, trace of umbilicus in tortured bulge. Flower with 8 sepals.
Fleshy, dense beefy flesh with the rich, sweet flavour of old-fashioned tomatoes.
Hardy and productive variety.
