Old heirloom from Germany, named after the person who discovered it in the 1970s: Dr. Dester, Indiana. He obtained the seeds from his housekeeper "Anna", an Amish woman of German origin whose family brought the seeds with them when they immigrated to the USA. Released in 2012.
Large, pink, 200-750 gram beefsteak-like fruit, flattened and with smooth, slightly rounded shoulders. Wide, corky, medium deep stem attachment depression.
Dense, meaty beefy flesh with a rich, sweet flavour.
Large, indeterminate growth habit.
Good production, best in the second half of the season.
