A rare and very old heirloom, known for over a century and despite its name is of American origin.
Orange-yellow fruit weighing 250 to 800 grams and 10 to 12 cm in diameter. Beef steak type, mostly irregularly shaped, flattened, ribbed at the top and with shoulders that may be rounded, curved or lobed.
Full and very dense beef flesh with very small, often few lodges, containing little gel and seeds. Excellent mild and sweet flavour.
Good production from mid-season but more abundant in the second half of the season.
Large, even foliage, indeterminate growth.
