Originally a F1 hybrid variety developed by Petoseed, USA. De-hybridised and stabilised by Pascal Moreau, Stave, Belgium in the late 2010s. This variety was originally created for the production of fried green tomatoes which Americans love, green tomato sauce, salsa and other chutneys.
The fruit looks like a Granny Smith apple, same colour, same shape, same size. Light green fruit of medium size, 120 to 180 grams, round, slightly flattened and broad ribbing limited to the shoulders. GWR type fruit remains green when ripe, and as the fruit is very firm it is not easy to tell when it is ripe.
Thin skin, very firm and juicy flesh. Tart flavour not great ... use in sauce or salsa.
The fruit can be kept for several weeks to months after picking (equivalent to "Green skin long keeper"). Grow for the look more than the taste!
