A heirloom variety from France, named after Gal Joffre, hero of the First World War. Already mentioned in seed catalogues in 1929. Offered to the Seed Savers Yearbook in 2002, seed from the collection of Luc Fichot.

Small pink to dark purple fruit with green shoulders, 80 to 150 grams, 4 to 5 cm in diameter, slightly rippled shoulders. Clusters of about 10 fruits. Medium depression at the stem attachment, trace of umbilicus in slight bulge.
Juicy flesh with 2 or 3 cavities containing many seeds. Acidic and very fruity flavour.
Very productive variety.
