A very old heirloom variety dating from the 1880s, whose exact origin is unknown, probably from Germany or the USA.
Fruit is beefsteak-like, weighing 180 to 500 grams, slightly flattened, strongly ribbed, which can make it misshapen, with rippled shoulders. Very deep depression at the stem attachment.
Fruit changes from green to yellow, then two-tone golden orange with pinkish red streaks, becoming almost entirely pink when fully ripe.
Two-coloured beefy flesh with a very sweet taste due to a high sugar content.
