A rare heirloom variety of Italian origin, named after the person who brought it to light. Featured in the 1991 Seed Saver Yearbook.
Red fruit weighing 60 to 180 grams, cylindrical and elongated plum type, variable in shape, most often pear-shaped with sometimes a nipple at the apical end.
Flesh with thick walls, semi hollow cavity containing little gel. Well-balanced flavour. Ideal for making stuffed dishes, sauces and coulis.
Vigorous plant with very large growth, regular foliage, indeterminate growth.
Generous production from mid-season to frost.
