Very old heirloom originating from Extramadura, Spain. Cultivated by the Jerónimos de Yuste monks in the 16th century, brought by Christopher Columbus from the New World, America. Slowly dry-smoked over oak and crushed into powder with a stone mill, a truly unique process. In 2005, this famous red pepper powder "Pimenton de la Vera" became a product protected by Denominación de Origin Protegida (DOP).
Elongated conical fruits with a tormented/wavy surface.
Ripens from green to brilliant red.
Spicy flavor but devoid of heat. Sugar Free Chilli is great barbecued or smoked for drying.
Plant with great development, tall and wide.
Abundant and regular harvests from mid-season.
