Variety originating from Russia, registered in the State Register of the Russian Federation, it takes its name from its resemblance to a watermelon when cut in half horizontally.
Fruit of 120 to 200 grams, round slightly flattened at the upper pole, often strongly ribbed/ribbed on its upper half. Colour varies from dark red to brown, green shoulders.
Flesh dark red, fleshy and juicy, small lodges containing many gel and seeds. Good flavor with exotic notes.
Plant with great development, regular foliage, indeterminate growth.
Good production from mid-season to the first frost. Tendency to cracking/bursting in wet weather.
NB: do not confuse with the US variety "Watermelon beefsteak", bigger and pink fruit.
