Variety, in observation, appeared in the garden of Jean Pierre Tejero, collector in the Bordeaux region. This one cultivated 5 feet of "Zapotec pink ribbed" with 5 feet of "Pineapple" in the vicinity. 4 of the plants of "Zapotec" produced fruits in conformity with the standard while the 5th produced fruits of form "lawful" but of orange yellow color. Without doubt a spontaneous mutation or an accidental crossing, the seeds were preciously recovered and will be tested next year by several collectors in order to observe their evolution.
Fruit of 150 to 250 grams very ribbed with a variable shape sometimes flattened or piriform. Deep depression at the peduncular attachment. Flesh with a taste reminiscent of pineapple.
Nb: "Zapotec ribbed pineapple" is just a name to differentiate it from the classic Zapotec, it is not a variety name.
